In<br \/>\nthis talk, we first introduce a symmetric Gauss-Seidel (sGS)<br \/>\ndecomposition theorem for solving an unconstrained convex<br \/>\ncomposite programming problem whose objective is the sum of<br \/>\na multi-block quadratic function and a non-smooth function<br \/>\ninvolving only the first block. Then, based on the sGS<br \/>\ndecomposition theorem, we design a two phase proximal<br \/>\naugmented Lagrangian method to efficiently solve the<br \/>\ntargeted problem to high accuracy. Specifically, in Phase I,<br \/>\nwe design an inexact sGS-based semi-proximal ADMM to<br \/>\ngenerate a reasonably good initial point to warm-start the<br \/>\nalgorithm in Phase II, which is a semi-smooth Newton-CG<br \/>\nbased proximal augmented Lagrangian method capable of<br \/>\ncomputing a high accuracy solution efficiently under certain<br \/>\nnondegeneracy conditions.<br \/>\nWe have developed a solver called SDPNAL+ based on the<br \/>\n2-phase algorithm for solving large scale linear SDP problems.<br \/>\nNumerous problems arising from combinatorial optimization<br \/>\nand binary integer quadratic programming problems have been<br \/>\ntested to evaluate the performance of the solver.
